Cutie

Ten years after the Second World War, England was broken, and labour shortages threatened its recovery. The UK government reached out to the West Indies. Thousands of men, women, and children arrived during the 1950s. They became known as the 'Windrush' generation.

A chance meeting in Derbyshire changed the lives of Vincent and Agatha. They married and built a life that was a far cry from their native country of Jamaica. With better job opportunities in Bristol, they moved to the inner city and raised six children.

Cutie was their youngest child. She was a free-spirited, headstrong tomboy with an innate passion for nature and the outdoors. Cutie found solace in her favourite play space and shared a summer of unimaginable adventures there with her best friend, Paulette.

The 1980s saw the political uprising of inner cities across the country. A new generation was dawning, and Cutie and her friends found themselves in the thick of it. Confronted with a previously forgotten, deep-rooted memory of her past, Cutie was desperate to keep her demons buried.

Then, a life-altering incident stopped her in her tracks. A year later, a chance encounter with a man changed her life forever.
